ATTITUDE VS TALENT (story 1)
Let me tell you a story :
Two 13-year-olds made then world-record 664-run unbeaten partnership in the Harris Shield Trophy in 1988. These boys were Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli , it brought them into the limelight.
Kambli (349 runs) had outscored Sachin (326) that day.
Kambli (349 runs) had outscored Sachin (326) that day.
Kamble , a batsman with great talent
Unbroken 664 runs in school match
Started his Ranji trophy career with a six
Made double two centuries and two centuries in 7 tests
Made record of quickest 1000 runs by an Indian
Their coach Ramakant Achrekar once said that technique wise Kamble was more talented than Sachin.
But Kamble retired at 23 years of age ( though he made many comebacks later ) whereas Sachin later turned into GOD OF CRICKET
So what happened? Where did it all go wrong?
When Courtney Walsh bowled a short pitched delivery in Mumbai 1994 , he fell prey to him. Kambli struggled against short-pitched deliveries , it became aknkwn fact to his opponents. But he never worked on it.
Whereas Sachin 's attitude and commitment to game was phenomenal.
"Once you go beyond a certain stage, talent is the most useless thing to possess," , talking about Kambli to a gathering at IIM Ahmedabad.
"Some extremely talented young cricketers struggle the moment they face a roadblock because they don't know what to do. Because they never had to struggle to succeed. They always used their talent to succeed."
"He didn't know what to do because talent had solved all his problems until that point," continued Bhogle.
"After a point, work ethic counts for far more than talent," Bhogle added, citing Tendulkar as a prime example. "Attitude, work ethic and his passion are the reason Tendulkar hit (then) 70 centuries.
Talent breeds ego and never solves problems beyond a point as you haven't struggled to succeed.

ATTITUDE V'S TALENT (story 2)
Most famous story we all have heard from our childhood :
Rabbit and Tortoise race story
One day a Rabbit met a tortoise. The Rabbit said to the tortoise, “Why do you move so slowly? Why don’t you try to run like other animals?” Thus the Rabbit laughed at the tortoise for his slow pace. The tortoise said, “I know that I cannot run. But I can beat you in a race.”
“Then come, let us run a race at once,” said the Rabbit.
The race began. The Rabbit ran very swiftly for some time. Then he stopped and looked back. He saw that the tortoise was far behind. So he said, “Now I can take rest. Let the tortoise come here and then I shall run again.”
So the hate sat under a tree to take rest. But soon he fell asleep. The tortoise went on slowly but steadily. He did not stop for a moment.
Suddenly the Rabbit woke up. He saw the tortoise very near the goal. He ran as fast as he could. But alas! The tortoise had already reached the goal.
Moral: Do the Hard work all the time and it will definitely pays you off one day. Here you see that…
Even though tortoise is not talented to win the races it won because of hard-work and rabbit on the other side had talent to win and chose to relax and not hardwork.
